Location: Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc.
Reports To: Adoptions & Public Relations Director
Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing social media content that reflects the mission, daily operations, and impact of Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc. This role captures and shares authentic, engaging stories from across all Mostly Mutts locations, including the animal shelter, Mostly Mutts Market, and the spay/neuter clinic.
This position plays a critical role in increasing community engagement, supporting adoptions, driving traffic to Mostly Mutts Market, increasing donations, promoting fundraising efforts, and highlighting the people and animals behind Mostly Mutts’ lifesaving work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Social Media Management & Content Creation
- Create, schedule, and publish content across all Mostly Mutts social media platforms.
- Capture high-quality photos and short-form videos that reflect daily operations and special moments.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice, tone, and visual style.
- Monitor engagement and share relevant insights with leadership.
Animal & Mission Storytelling
- Highlight animals in care, including:
- Long-term shelter residents
- Animals with significant or ongoing medical needs
- Animals requiring special advocacy or visibility
- Work collaboratively with Animal Programs, Medical, Training, and Adoption teams to ensure accuracy and appropriate messaging.
- Share foster journeys, adoption updates, and success stories.
Mostly Mutts Market Promotion
- Photograph and promote merchandise available at Mostly Mutts Market.
- Highlight unique items, high-value donations, themed displays, and special sales.
- Create content designed to increase foot traffic and connect Market revenue to MM’s lifesaving mission.
Volunteer, Foster & Staff Recognition
- Collect and share stories featuring volunteers, fosters, and staff, and community service workers.
- Highlight volunteer shifts, departments, and behind-the scenes operations.
- Promote a culture of appreciation and recognition across all MM locations.
Collaboration & Organizational Support
- Coordinate content planning with the Executive Director and department leadership.
- Support organizational campaigns, fundraising initiatives, events, and major announcements.
- Assist with storytelling related to the launch and growth of the spay/neuter clinic.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing social media for an organization or business.
- Strong storytelling, writing, and communication skills.
- Photography skills required; video capture and editing skills required.
- Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced animal rescue and retail environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Passion for animal welfare and nonprofit missions.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Regular on-site presence required.
- Flexible schedule based on organizational needs.
- Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for events, campaigns, or special initiatives.
- Must be comfortable working around animals.
