A LITTLE GUY WITH A BIG PERSONALITY:  18.5 lbs. and needs to lose a little bit more

Hi, I’m Abe – a big guy in a small package!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and have been with them for over a year now!  I like to help in the front office, and I enjoy my sleepovers with some of the nice volunteers, but I sure hope to find my new furever family soon!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’ve met some dogs at MM’s and for now, I should not live with other dogs.  I growl when they come close to me. / Cats are not a good fit for me either as I met the shelter kitty and we all agreed I shouldn’t live with cats. / I met some kids at the shelter and did not like it at all when they moved around me, so a home with no kids is what I need.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  It takes me a little time to get to know/trust new folks, so give me a little time please and let me come to you.  Once we’re friends, I’m all in!  I’m an alert guy with the cutest ears that perk up when I hear sounds that I am curious about. / I’m a moderate to higher energy guy, so let’s go for some nice walks together!  Energy level: 5-7.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program and so far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’, and ‘go to place’ commands as well as accepting nice strangers without jumping and waiting at doors before walking in/out on command.  When playing with toys, I have been known to growl and play vocally, so my MMU training sessions include some work on guarding toys.  I’m looking for a strong leader in my new home to reinforce all the great things I’ve learned at MM’s.  They will be happy to show you how. I occasionally show some protectiveness of my favorite people, but a strong leader can correct that, ask if you need tips. / I’m happy to entertain myself in my crate with a Kong if you need to leave for a little bit (as long as there’s a treat inside, hehe).  At the shelter I don’t like folks to approach me/my crate if I’m eating, or to stick fingers in it, so just use caution with food and my crate until you know my habits. / My potty manners have been great in both my temp. foster home and on the shelter schedule.
• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love belly rubs, laps, snuggling and giving kisses to my people once I know them well!  I also enjoy lounging on the furniture and just hanging out with my favorite people. / Strangers that approach me to fast or try to get to know me very quickly.
• MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.
I am looking for a great family that will treasure me as an only dog!  A volunteer who loves me has paid half of my adoption fee already, so my adoption fee $150.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
