A LITTLE GUY WITH A BIG PERSONALITY:  5 years old / 18 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  Hi, I’m Abe – a big guy in a little body! I love belly rubs, laps, snuggling and giving kisses to my people! I’m an alert guy with the cutest ears that perk up when I hear sounds that I am curious about. I may only be 18 pounds, but in my mind, I am bigger than any dog I meet. I’m looking to be your only dog as I don’t like other dogs, and I’ll growl and go after them.  I know that’s not the best thing for a little guy like me to do, but I just can’t seem to stop myself.  I haven’t met cats, but that’s likely not a good fit either.  However, I’ll be a great only dog and a devoted companion. I’m a higher energy guy, so let’s go for some nice walks together! I’m enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program and so far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’, and ‘go to place’ commands as well as accepting nice strangers without jumping and waiting at doors before walking in/out on command. When playing with toys, I have been known to growl, and we weren’t sure if I was playing or showing signs of toy possessiveness. Each of my MMU training sessions include some work on guarding toys. My trainer has seen a great deal of improvement in this area, and though I still growl a bit when playing with toys it is playful and I have never tried to nip at my trainer or my foster mom over a toy. I will need a strong leader in my new home to reinforce everything I’ve learned in MMU and continue my training. I went to the Mostly Mutts Art Show with my MMU trainer and I had a blast!  I met lots of people and did great with them all, and I loved all the attention and petting I received. In my foster home I bark when strangers come to the door, but my foster mom appreciates the security alarm. I do need a little time to warm up to new visitors, but if they are patient and let me come to them, I will warm up. My potty manners have been great in my foster home, so yay for me!  When I’m at the shelter, I’m not a big fan of my crate, but in my foster home I will go in my crate on command, and I’m happy to entertain myself with a kong if you need to leave for a little bit (as long as there’s a treat inside, hehe). Also, I don’t like folks to approach me/my crate if I’m eating, so just use caution with food until you know my habits.  I met some kids at the shelter and did not like it at all when they moved around me, so a home with no kids is what I need.  If you are looking for a nice little dog with a big personality and don’t have other pets, I may be a good fit for you!  Energy level: 5-7. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, and my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
