A SWEET & FRIENDLY GIRL: 5 Years old / 35 lbs. and needs to lose a lot of weight

Hi there, I’m Abigail! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control with another dog and sure am glad to be here getting lots of attention and good care. I think my former owner was elderly and may not have been able to meet all my needs, but I’m not sure. I’m heartworm positive and will be treated for that in mid-December 2022 and I sure hope to be with my new family before that treatment starts.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like the dogs I met in the temporary foster home that I visited for a few weeks, and I get along with the dog I came in with too, so if you have a dog already, let’s meet! / I got along very well with the cats in that home too, so if you have a dog-friendly kitty, let’s meet! / I like the kids I met in the temp. foster home I visited. They were 13 years and older, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a very affectionate girl that quickly attaches to people and has liked everyone I’ve met so far! My easygoing nature is sure to charm you and I look forward to spending time with my new family. I’ll sit with you on the couch while you watch TV or read, and we’ll have a good time together. I was a good girl for my bath when I arrived at Mostly Mutts, and I rode well in the car when I was rescued too. / My energy level is 3 – 5.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t remember if I know any commands yet so we can discover this together. I do seem to know what the word ‘no’ means, and I walk nicely on my leash which is great for helping me lose the weight that I need to lose. Leisurely walks work best for me right now since I have a lot of weight to lose. / I have good crate manners at Mostly Mutts. / I had accidents in the temp. foster home I visited but I also went potty outside. I am not sure if I was able to go outside much in my former home situation, so I will need my new family to work on this with me.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like all the people I’ve met while with Mostly Mutts and in my foster home. I also like to lie in the sun, take short walks, rest in comfy doggie beds, soft toys, and napping on the couch. / I don’t like being pulled on my leash as I enjoy leisurely strolls, please. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Sadly, I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, so I'm HW positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that in mid-December 2022 and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption only please. I hope to be with my family before treatment starts! I’m having some allergies with fur loss, so I’m on an allergy medication called Apoquel and we’re trying a Hill’s Science Diet special protein food to see if it clears up. Ask about how that’s going.

I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful family to love! Perhaps it’s you? My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
