Alice

Gender: Female
Breed: Hound
Secondary Breed: Labrador
Status: Adoptable

A BRIGHT-EYED & SWEET GIRL:  6 years old / 42 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  Hi there!  My name’s Alice!  I’m a friendly lady who is described as a bright-eyed, alert girl with a sweet nature.  I enjoy going for walks and have good leash manners, but keep a good hold of my leash as I once tried to chase a deer I saw on a walk and may also try to go after squirrels and other critters. Also, I don’t like other dogs so when we’re walking, I shouldn’t get to close to them, or I may lunge at them. I’m a clever girl who figured out how to slip out of my collar, so make sure it’s fitted properly, and a good slip leash may be a better option for me than a leash that clips to my collar. I’d love a quiet neighborhood without a lot of street traffic too as cars passing worry me a little – however car rides have been just fine!  So maybe a nice trail or a park would be fun.  My potty manners are good on the shelter schedule, and I didn’t mind the crate in my temporary foster home and would voluntarily lie down in the crate for little while. I relaxed a little more each day I was there and enjoyed staying close to my temp. foster dad as our bond became stronger.  I’m enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and so far, I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, and ‘leave it’ commands, loose leash walking, proper door etiquette, and accepting nice strangers without jumping.  Stay tuned to see what else I learn!  Since I take treats nicely, I bet you can have fun teaching me even more!  I enjoy being petted and loved on by my people, and I’m always excited to meet a new human friend, so save some cuddle time for me. I also love to play with toys, so have lots for me to enjoy when you aren’t available to snuggle. A home with no dogs is what I’m looking for as I was initially timid with other dogs, but now I just don’t like them!  I don’t enjoy vet visits, so a muzzle is helpful.  It’s not so much that I don’t like restraint, but needle sticks are scary for me (as with a lot of dogs).  I met a nice 10-year-old boy and his younger sister at the MM shelter and did well with them, so a home with kids around 10 (or slightly younger) could be a good fit for me. Just remember the kids should not walk me due to my dislike of other dogs.  Energy level: Currently 4-6, though this may increase a little bit once I settle into my new home.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, spayed, and my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
