LEARNING TO LOVE & TRUST: 2 Years old / 34 lbs.
Hi, my name’s Bartleby! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control quite shut down and afraid of many things. I’m glad I was rescued and am looking forward to finding a great home where I’ll continue to blossom and conquer my fears. I’m starting to blossom now and hope to continue on that path. I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I like the dogs I have met in the prison/foster training program, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! It may help with my confidence in your home. / Cats unknown / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best older kids that will understand I need time to feel safe and secure in my new home.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I came to Mostly Mutts very shy and scared. The volunteers are showing me love and kindness and giving me the attention I need to feel safe and comfortable, and I am being sweet with them as more of my personality begins to emerge. I am much more comfortable spending time with people and dogs inside right now and tend to shut down when we go outside. I am as sweet as I am handsome, so I am sure to be a great fur friend once we build trust. Once I am comfortable with you and my safe place inside, my fun loving pup side really comes out! / My energy level is 4 – 5 right now, but that may increase a little more as I gain confidence and am comfortable in my new home.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I expect to be a Mostly Mutts University graduate very soon! So far I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I am working on my leash manners now as I gain more confidence. / I seem to view my crate as my ‘safe place’, and I am comfortable there. I would likely enjoy a crate or safe spot in my home where I can retreat when needed. / My potty manners have been good in the prison/foster training program, but I don’t enjoy spending much time outside right now.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: So much of my personality is yet to emerge, but I can definitely say that I am starting to enjoy attention from the volunteers and am loving the petting I’m getting. My sweet, trusting eyes say that I WANT to trust and – once that is established, I’ll have more to share. / I fear the open outdoors and am a flight risk, so keep a secure hold on my leash as well as use caution around doors. I do prefer the fenced play yard, where I seem to feel more secure, so a fenced yard in my new home would be great. I also fear loud noises and fast movements. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training.
• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m taking an inexpensive anxiety medication to help me feel more comfortable.
I am looking for a calm and loving home with a patient and kind family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
