A GREAT FRIEND IN THE MAKING: 2 years old / 15 lbs.

Hi I'm Caspian! I came to Mostly Mutts with a pelvic injury from being hit by a car. Thankfully, given time and good care I have healed. Then, I got to go to the prison/foster training program where I learned a lot including some behavior modification as I choose who I like and who I don't. I'm looking for someone who is willing to put in the time with my training as well as reinforce the rules I've learned, and not someone who just thinks I'm cute, as it will take work on your part to help me be the best I can be.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I loved to play with the other small dogs in the prison program and in my foster home, so let’s meet. I do much better meeting dogs with leashes dropped in a controlled environment / I chase the kitties in my foster home, but they chase me right back, so if you have a dog smart kitty, let’s meet with proper introduction and see if we can be pals / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but mature kids 15+ that will follow the rules that work with me, could work in my home, so let's meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I like some people right away and others not at all, but when the person works with me that I don't immediately like, I can be won over within 2 days. This has been demonstrated multiple times with the folks in the prison/foster training program and MM's will be glad to go over how to do this with you. I will go after your shoes and ankles if I don't like you and if you are a stranger. It will look very serious, but so far it has just been drama and nipping, not bites / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the commands ‘sit’, ‘stay’, 'place', 'drop-it', 'down', 'come', 'leave-it' and I have good leash manners. I'm working on some cute tricks called bang bang and spin. I will bark at strangers and have what I call stranger danger issues that the trainers have been working on with me. Now when I bark at strangers approaching, they tell me to go to my 'place’, so I retreat to my 'place' and calm myself. On walks, my foster family uses the ‘leave it’ command when I bark at strangers and reward me with a treat when I settle. I'm a dog that needs rules as well as people to follow the rules that work for me. I test boundaries to make sure that the rules are still the rules / I love my crate! I'll go in on command and sleep nicely all night. Use a larger crate only as I turn and try to bite the door of smaller crates when the door is being closed / My potty habits have been very good in the prison/foster program as well as in my foster home - I bark loudly when I need to go out in my foster home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love being with my people at home and I like treats and toys. A home without many folks coming and going would be ideal / I do not like a busy home that has company, strangers in general, and going places. I am not a dog that wants to go to places like Home Depot, a dog friendly restaurant etc. because there are strangers. I do enjoy car rides, and my foster family is working with me so that I can join them on drive-thru only outings.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a great home where my training will continue! Adoption fee $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
