A WONDERFUL YOUNG PUPPY:  5 months old / Large once full grown  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. Hi, my name is Chestnut! I am a nice pup who is playful, sweet and a bit mouthy since I’m still young and teething. I may take a moment or two to warm up to you, but then I’ll be climbing in your lap, playing with your hair and just generally loving you! I am actually fairly calm, as puppies go, but of course playful and silly. Sudden noises DO startle me, but I recover quickly and am then ready for fun and adventure! You will notice that my tail wags constantly – further proof that I am one happy little fellow. Toys are great, and I love to carry them around. I would chew on two at a time if they would fit in my mouth – LOL.  ‘One can never have enough toys’ – I always say! I have liked all the dogs I’ve met at the shelter, and I love my doggie foster brother and being around him seems to comfort me. So, if you have a nice doggie, let’s meet and see if we can be friends. My potty manners are a work in progress, as I am a puppy, so continue to be consistent with me so I can master this. My crate manners are also coming along nicely, I bark and whine for a few minutes at first in my crate, but I settle down pretty quickly. I have met kids at the shelter (age 10+), and we got along well, so calm kids around this age in my new home may be fun! I like the 10-year-old boy in my foster home too, but he’s very active and sometimes his unpredictable movements and loudness will make me nervous and I’ll give a little growl, so I think I’d be most comfortable with calm children in my new home. I was previously in the Mostly Mutts University training program and had mastered ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, ‘go to your place’, ‘stay’ and ‘come’ as well as accepting nice strangers without jumping and waiting at doors before going in/out on command. I’ve backslid a little, but my foster family is going to work with my former trainer to catch me back up. I’m working on my leash walking skills now, and I’m learning! Like all puppies, I'll require a devoted owner who will take the time to train me, so I'll grow up to be a polite and well-trained adult dog. I also have puppy teeth so have lots of things for me to chew on and start gently training me not to chew on you or the kids, so we'll all be happy!  Energy level: 5-7. I'm neutered, micro-chipped and current on my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $299.00 and includes the above medical treatments, a Martingale collar, leash and engraved name tag too!
