Gender: Male
Breed: Chihuahua
Secondary Breed: Miniature Pinscher
Status: Adoptable
READY FOR MY ‘HAPPY EVER AFTER’: 6 years old / 15 lbs.
Hi there!  My name is Chip!  I am so happy that Mostly Mutts has rescued me from animal control.  I’m likely a 1 or 2-person doggie which is typical of my Chihuahua breed.  Give me time to trust and love you and we could be a great match!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I didn’t like the male dogs I met at Mostly Mutts and was aggressive towards them, but I did ok with the females. If you have a female dog at home, let’s meet to make sure we’re a good match since I want to be the dominant dog in the relationship.  / Cats unknown / I also haven’t met kids, so let’s meet and best older calm kids only that understand I need time and patience.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet little guy, though I need you to give me some time to get to know you – so go slow please, and don’t rush to snuggle with me until we make a ‘friend connection’.  The Mostly Mutts photographer who did my photo session describes me as cute and active – rarely sitting still for a picture and dancing for treats that I knew she had – LOL / My energy level is 4-6.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am learning lots of great doggie things with my trainer in the Mostly Mutts University training program.  I’ll want a dog savvy owner who is a strong, fair leader, as I am nipping (no bites) right now when things aren’t going my way and when rushed.  I have good leash manners on my walks with the volunteers.  I don’t load in the car on my own yet, but maybe you can show me how fun car rides can be / My crate manners have been good at Mostly Mutts / I am doing well with my potty manners on the shelter schedule.
• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like my food and treats, and I love people who are gentle and patient with me.  Some of my nippy responses to people suggest that people may not have been gentle with me in the past / I don’t like to be restrained or picked up.  Hands going over my head or approaches that are rushed or too sudden make me nervous, and I have growled my disapproval at this.  The way to my heart is to patiently allow me to accept your love and attention on my terms.
• MEDICAL:  I just had my teeth cleaned and a few pulled, so my mouth is nice and clean!  It seems I have some allergies, so I’ve just started on an allergy medication called Apoquel.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.
I am looking for a patient and gentle home where I can be a cherished family member.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
