Hoagie

Gender: Male
Breed: Boxer
Secondary Breed: Mix
Status: Adoptable
A DELIGHTFUL GUY:  6 years old / 52 lbs. and needs to gain a little

Hi!  My name is Hoagie!  I am an absolutely delightful guy who has won the hearts of the volunteers while awaiting my furever home after being rescued from animal control.  I was likely kept in a small, confined area previously as I have a little muscle loss in my hindquarters, and I am now enjoying stretching my legs and gaining my muscle strength back.  Mostly Mutts is helping me get my skin well too, and – as my hair grows back, I am becoming quite the looker, if I do say so myself – LOL!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I liked the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts and in my foster home. I respect the smaller doggies who don’t want to play, and I’m happy to play with the others who like to play, and I let them set the pace. Let’s meet! / I’m not very interested in the kitties in my foster home, but they enjoy laying with me since I’m calm and relaxed, and I don’t mind one bit. / I visited with a group of school age children at the shelter and was so great with them. They loved all over me and I soaked up all the attention and did not get overwhelmed. If you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet, easy-going guy who is calm and friendly with all the people I have met.  I am happy to be getting regular exercise, and I have a cute little prance in my step now – so cute! / My energy level is 3-5 and will likely increase a little as I build my muscles back up.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am showing everyone how smart I am, as I already know the ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ commands and will offer you my paw upon request – ‘happy to meet you!’ / I do well in my XL crate when foster mommy goes to work.  I don't mind going in, and I sleep most of the time.  I'm happy to be out of my crate and with the family when they're home.  / I have had excellent potty manners in my foster home, and my potty manners were also good on the shelter schedule with very few accidents.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I thrive on attention, as I don’t think I was used to getting much of it before.  I load nicely into the car, so let’s enjoy some outings together. I love chicken, treats, chew toys, and to play with soft toys.  I don't chew my toys up, I'm a good boy!  / I can’t think of any dislikes, but I would not like it if I did not get enough love and attention.

• MEDICAL:  I am currently taking a fish oil supplement and Apoquel for skin allergies and will continue with medicated baths while my skin heals and my beautiful coat returns.  These can easily be done in my new home.  I’m taking a Cosequin supplement too which is good for my joints. I will take anything you give me if you cover it in peanut butter! I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for an attentive family who will make me a cherished family member! Everyone who meets me comments about my sweet disposition, my laid-back nature, my happy face, and my eagerness to love and be loved. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
