A FUN & ENTHUSIASTIC FELLOW:  10 years old / 19 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  Hi, I’m Homer!  I’m a great little guy who loves to play & - in true beagle fashion – has a curious and sometimes vocal nature, so I would love to go on adventures with my people.  Treats are awesome, & I will sit for them… or I will dance on my hind legs for them.  So cute!  I came to Mostly Mutts as a lost doggie with another dog friend (who has been adopted).  We got along well, but I have been unsure about some of the dogs I pass on my walks – barking at them.  Can’t tell yet if it’s in play or not, so, if you have a nice doggie, let’s meet to see if we can be friends. I met a nice 10-year-old boy & his younger sister at the shelter & did great with them, so a home with kids around 10 or maybe a little younger could be a good fit for me. I also met twin girls around that age in my temp. foster home & was very sweet with them. I’m a graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program, & I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, & ‘go to your place’ commands, loose leash walking, proper door etiquette, & accepting nice strangers without jumping. I impressed my temp. foster mom so much when I learned the names of my two favorite toys (“ball” and stuffed “squirrel”). I liked to hide my toys throughout the house, & if she asked me where one of them was, I retrieved the correct one – so cute! I like walking with a harness best as I have a mild collapsed trachea. However, please use care when putting my harness on as I become agitated & squirm when someone reaches under my tummy. I haven’t attempted to bite, but I have directed my mouth towards hands to move them away from that area. My trainer believes I will adjust to having a harness put on with time & consistency, but please keep my sensitivity in my tummy area in mind when picking me up or reaching under my belly (& make sure the kiddos know about this too). When in my crate at the shelter, I will ‘talk’ to let people know I would rather be with them, but in my temp. foster home I was a bit quieter & calm in the crate for a few hours at a time. I think I’d get chattier if I had to be in the crate for longer periods, so I probably should not live in a condo/apartment environment where my ‘discussion’ might annoy the neighbors! My potty manners are good on the shelter schedule, & they were excellent in my temp. foster home too.  I’m enthusiastic outside, so I can be vocal, & I’ve got a great Beagle howl.  You may notice that I have a bump on my back, but – no worries, it is just a fatty mass & does not cause me any discomfort.  The vet detected a low-grade heart murmur during my exam, but it is mild & does not require medication. I just have had my teeth cleaned which sometimes helps to clear up a low-grade heart murmur!  Energy level:  5-7.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, & my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar & leash.
