January

Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd
Secondary Breed: Labrador
Status: Adoptable
LOOKING FOR AN ACTIVE FAMILY:  2 years old / 47 lbs.

Hi, I am January!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control with my eleven pups.  They have grown into healthy, happy puppies & have found their furever homes!  Then I got to participate in the prison foster/training program where I learned lots & had a blast. Now I can’t wait to find my forever family!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I haven’t liked all of the dogs I’ve met during my time with Mostly Mutts, & if another dog lunges at me, I will defend myself. I haven’t instigated any scuffles, though, & I made friends with a sweet, easygoing dog in the prison foster/training program, & I love the other dog in my foster home – we constantly play & cuddle together. We had a minor scuffle over a toy, but it was easily stopped with a loud NO from my foster mom, so introduce toys slowly when another dog is involved.  After the scuffle, we were best buddies immediately. If you have a friendly doggie, let’s meet! / Cats Unknown / I’ve not met many kids yet, but I am an active & jumpy girl, so older kids (10+) in my new home may be a good fit & best no toddlers that I may bump over with my enthusiasm.  Let’s meet & take things slow as I seemed a little nervous when I met a young girl on Halloween (though it was dark & she was in costume).

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am an incredibly sweet, loving & social gal who loves everyone that I meet.  I bond with my people & am happiest when I am with them, interacting, exercising – you name it, I’ll be with you. / Energy level: 7-9 right now but may be lower a little once I am settled & comfortable in my new home.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘down’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, & ‘go to place’ commands. I also walk nicely on my leash, use proper door etiquette, & accept friendly strangers without jumping! / My crate is not my favorite place, as I would rather be with me people. I become stressed & agitated when left alone, whether I’m in the crate or not, & sometimes I try to find something to chew on or eat so make sure there’s nothing harmful I could get into. / My potty manners have been great on the shelter schedule & in my foster home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I LOVE people & – though I am somewhat interested in toys, they take a back seat to my interest in people. I like the car, so let’s go places together.  Exercising with & activities with my people are the best! / I don’t like being away from my people & would benefit from a stay at/work from home family member.

• MEDICAL:  I am on 2 medications to ease my anxiety when I’m separated from my people. These are ongoing medications, but hopefully I can be weaned off them once I am settled in my new home. I ran into a hard surface while in the prison foster/training program & hurt my shoulder. The x-ray at the vet was clear, but it’s still a little tender & healing & I’m still walking with a little bit of a limp but it’s improving each day. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped & spayed.

If you are looking for an energetic sweetheart who wants to go on adventures with you, I may be the perfect fit! My adoption fee is $299.00, & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
