A SWEET OLDER LADY:  17 years old / 14 lbs.
Hi, my name is Lexi!  I had a family that I was devoted to for 17 years, but they no longer have time for me now that the kids are going off to college, so Mostly Mutts is dedicated to finding me a new family that will give me the love all dogs deserve.
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along just fine with the friendly dogs in my foster home, though I don’t play with them and would also be perfectly fine as an only dog.  Let’s meet! / Cats Unknown, but I don’t show any interest in the two rabbits in my foster home, so a home with a kitty may work for me / I grew up with children my entire life, and now that I am older, I think I would do well with kids again that know to be very gentle with a senior dog.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet girl who enjoys being where my people are.  I am not super cuddly but do want to be near you. My foster mom says I make her laugh and smile on a daily basis and that makes me happy. / My energy level is lower at a 3-4, though I do get bursts of energy and run zoomies!
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My former owner reported that I know ‘sit’, ‘let’s go outside’ and ‘come’, but I am mostly deaf, and seem to only hear loud noises (and the sound of the fridge opening, hehe) / I did not stay in a crate in my former foster home, and I’ve done well for short periods in the crate in my current foster home. At night I sleep in the bedroom with my people. / My potty habits are good on a frequent schedule in my foster home, with a few accidents. I need to be let out often as it’s harder to hold it in my golden years, but I’m quick about getting down to business. Tip from my foster mom – when I wake up from a nap my first stop should be outside to tinkle.
• LIKES/DISLIKES:   I like being with my people, and – though I don’t play, I take comfort in being near them. I also love exploring the fenced yard in my foster home and then napping on a nice blanket. I have an overbite and really like soft food – no kibble for me!  (see special food note below under medical) / I don’t like loud noises and may hide under the bed during thunderstorms or fireworks.  Car rides make me feel sick – every time, so I do best in a little travel crate with a towel for easy clean up.
• MEDICAL:   I have a mild heart murmur, but the vets say my heart is still strong!  I have a large lump on my tail and a few “old girl” lumps and bumps that the vets looked at and ran a test (on the one on my tail only).  Due to my age the vet is not concerned about it and wouldn’t want to put me under anesthesia to remove it.  I’m on an allergy medication and eat a special food to try and heal my itchy skin and ears, but I’m small so it’s not expensive to feed me and it is helping me feel better! My sight is limited, but it doesn’t slow me down too much. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.
I am looking for a family that will be as devoted to me as I am to them during my golden years and that will keep me safe from falling on stairs I likely won’t see.  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
