Louis

Gender: Male
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Secondary Breed: Corgi
Status: Adoptable

A SWEET GENTLEMAN:  10 years old / 16 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm. Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. Hi, my name is Louis!  I am a calm, easy-going fellow who is looking for a loving home where I will be a valued family member. My foster mom says I am an excellent house guest! I came to MM’s quite sick with pneumonia, a urinary tract infection & a grade 4 heart murmur. So, you can imagine how terrible I felt. Well fast forward & I’m all better from the pneumonia & the UTI. The heart murmur will stay with me though I’m on 2 good medications for it & we hope that we’ll see some improvement soon. I’ll need to stay on the heart medication for life! Since I’m feeling so much better, I’m starting to enjoy chew toys, so I hope you will have those for me in my new home. I am an older guy, so I don’t play much, though I do play gently with the other older dog in my foster home. In fact, I think I would benefit from another low-key doggie friend in my home. My potty manners have been good on a frequent schedule now too! I have done well with the gentle older grandchildren who visit my foster home, though new people make me a bit unsure. However, I don’t react aggressively towards them. I just head to my comfy bed, from which I can just observe. Once I know visitors are kind folks, I do like for them to come over & pet me or give a scratch behind my ears, though I rarely initiate the attention. Older kids will be best for me since I’m an older fellow myself, so let’s meet. For the folks I DO know, I like to be with them as much as possible – following them around the house or going for a car ride (which I enjoy). I spend time in my crate (not more than 3-4 hours) when my foster family leaves - though I would rather be with you, so there IS some initial whining. I sleep through the night in a little bed in my foster parents’ room, so no need for overnight crating. Energy level: Currently 3-5 but may increase a little as my heart medicine is helping me feel better every day. I'm current on vaccinations & micro-chipped. I can’t be neutered yet due to my heart condition, but we hope to be able to do that soon. I have a follow up appointment in Mid-February to see. (MM’s will pay for the appointment as well as my neuter if it’s possible, with their vet). You will notice that I have a mass in my private area which is a result of not being neutered at an early age. Be assured that it doesn’t bother me - just gives me a bit of a unique look. My adoption fee is $100.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar & leash.
