‘ATLANTA UNITED’ THEMED FRIEND: 1 year old / Approx. 22 lbs. and needs to gain some more weight

Thankfully, my brothers and I were picked up by animal control and then we worked our way to Mostly Mutts so we could start our new lives. It appears that we were abandoned behind an apartment complex. We were all super skinny and missing about half of our fur due to lack of nutrition. Something clearly went wrong with our start in life, so we all need wonderful, patient families since normal doggie life is very new and will take some time to learn and relax in. I’m in a great foster home with one of my siblings working on that right now!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I love my siblings and had fun playing with them in the Mostly Mutts play yard before going to my foster home. In my foster home, I am learning doggie behaviors from the playful yet lower energy and patient dogs who live there. (High energy dogs make me uncomfortable right now). I’m learning to share toys, and the love of my people with them. Since I was starved before being rescued, my foster feeds me separately as I don’t yet understand that there will always be another meal for me. So, if you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet / I get along well with the cats in my foster home, so if you have a dog-tolerant kitty at home, let’s meet / I haven’t met kids yet. Lots of movement by younger kids may make me shy away in fear, so older, calm kids may be a good fit in my home, let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: It took a few weeks in my foster home for my fun and playful personality to begin to emerge. I went from hiding in fear to running zoomies and playing with other dogs. I will need an adjustment period in my new home, so Mostly Mutts recommends relatively dog savvy folks to help me become the dog I was meant to be! I am not a first-time dog type of dog. I really love my foster dad and like to ‘pretend’ I can’t get on the couch without his help – lol. I am shyer than my brother Santiago in new situations, but bolder than him once I am comfortable with a situation. I’ve experienced lots of doggy ‘firsts’ in my foster home and love learning about the good life every day. There are still a lot of unknowns out there, so please be patient and let’s not rush into lots of new things right away / My energy level is 4-6, but that will likely increase as I gain more confidence in my new home.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to become a well-trained and well-adjusted dog. I’ve been more focused on socialization than commands at this point, but I am VERY treat-motivated and am starting to learn the ‘sit’ command / I’m pretty good in my doggie pen in my foster home, though I don’t like being away from my people and will make some noise, so I’m not sure how I would do in an apartment or condo type home / I am making good progress with my potty habits, my foster says I’m about 75% there. I have had an occasional accident inside, but I do know I need to potty outside and am learning to go to the door when I want to go out. This may regress in my new home for a little while.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love all the typical puppy stuff … snuggles, running zoomies, playing with all the toys, and chewing on sticks. My favorite place is in my person’s lap / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training, or if my people weren’t patient and understanding with me. I’m shy of new things and meeting new people so I tend to bark at them a little until I can sniff them. Bath time is not my favorite, but I tolerate it well enough.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m getting special baths for a little longer to help my skin and fur continue to improve. These can be done in my new home.

I’m looking for a family that will love and be patient with me as I experience so many new things in life and know that I’m home and safe!! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
