Breed: English Bulldog
Status: Adoptable

A SNUGGLE BUG/SPECIAL NEEDS GAL: 1.5 years old / 52 lbs.

Hi, my name is Pollie! I had a home, but the other dog and I simply could not get along, so Mostly Mutts is helping me find a nice calm furever home where I can be the only dog and be much happier. I have a pretty serious genetic heart condition that likely will shorten my life, but I have lots of loving and living to do in the meantime – perhaps with YOU! (see medical below)

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I didn’t get along with the dog in my previous home, so I should be your only dog / Cats may cause a bit too much excitement for my weakened heart, so no cats in my new home, please / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, and my former family said I was not a fan of babies, so if you have older calm kids let’s meet. I will likely want to sit on their laps, so best no small kids.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am an affectionate gal who is happiest in the company of people. A stay at home family member that I can spend lots of time napping near would be ideal. I will lean into you as I sit down, just to be sure I get as close as possible – lol. I may be 50 lbs., but I’ll want to sit in your lap please – because I’m adorable. I am easy-going and settle in to my surroundings pretty easily, though I am a creature of habit at the shelter (insisting on going out the same door for my walks, etc.) I’ll just give out and lay down when I am tired so don’t let that happen / My energy level is 0-2, which is fortunate, as I need to be less active due to my weakened heart. It doesn’t take much energy to snuggle, so that’s great!

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: My best skill is being a great companion to my human. My leash skills are good (I use a harness), but – due to my heart condition - I don’t need exercise beyond going outside to take care of business / I have not needed a crate in my temp foster home and have good manners in my room at the shelter / My potty habits have been good at the shelter, as well as in my temp foster home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like to be with my people. I also seek out interesting places to hang out – as evidenced in my temp foster home, where I ‘adopted’ a large planter as my spot to relax every chance I got – so silly! At the shelter I enjoy just sitting on the volunteers laps and soaking up attention. I love car rides – like to pick up the kids, drive thru the pharmacy, etc. I call them car rides to nowhere as I am not a dog that should get out and about, but just riding in the car to pick things up makes me happy. Cool environments are best for me, so I like and need air conditioning / I am startled by loud noises, so a calmer my environment - the better. Slick floors can be a challenge for me, so rugs and carpet in my new home would be best.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Like all English Bulldogs, I have skin flaps that need daily cleaning and I have a skin flap that needs to be kept clean/dry and free of discharge near/on my nose. MM’s investigated having it removed but due to my heart condition, it was not safe to do so. I am on heart medication that I’ll need to stay on. The vet says that my life expectancy may only be 2 to 4 years, but no one really knows for sure.

I am looking for a calm/low key home with good air conditioning where I can live out my time with an attentive and loving family. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
