Shay

Gender: Female
Breed: Labrador
Secondary Breed: Mix
Status: Adoptable

A SHY BUT VERY SWEET GIRL: 1 year old / 42 lbs.

Hi there, I’m Shay!  I was rescued from animal control and am glad to be with MM’s getting to know all the nice people here.  I have a beautiful shiny coat, and I’m eager to please and learn. I am currently in the prison foster/training program offsite and learning so much! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I’m available to meet.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along with every dog that I have met so far! At my foster home, I have made great friends with the two male dogs. I also visit with a female dog at my foster mom’s parent’s house that I enjoy playing with. I love to roughhouse with all of them and sometimes try to dominate but doesn’t happen often. I am very smart and can sense when one of the older dogs doesn’t want to play. My foster mom thinks that it would be best to have another dog in the house to continue to build my confidence! / Cats unknown / I went to a fundraiser that had a lot of kids younger than 10 and some slightly older approach me and I was very sweet and gentle and let them pet me, so let’s meet, but best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a bit timid and skittish with new people, but I warm up pretty quickly once I know you are a friend, then, you’ll see my sweet and loving nature, and my playful side too! New things can frighten me, so patience and kindness are needed to help me blossom / My energy level is 5-7. I love to run and be active outdoors, but I’m calm indoors after I’ve had exercise.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program and I’ve learned to ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘lay down’ and ‘leave it’, and I take treats nicely. I’m working on my leash manners now, so please keep a good hold of my leash, so I don’t bolt away if I’m frightened of something or get too excited. A harness works well for me to relieve the pressure on my neck / My crate manners are good. I spend 6-8 hours a day in the crate while my foster mom works, and I even go in on command.  Since I’m crated when my foster mom is at work, she doesn’t crate me at night as they would just be too much crate time, so I get to sleep in bed with her.  I do sleep well in a crate though, if I’m not crated during the day while you’re at work. / My potty manners are good in my foster home with just a few accidents, and I even learned to ring the bell at the back door when I needed to go out.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love a variety of chew bones and toys, playing fetch, face and belly rubs, a gentle hand and spirit, as well as, being shown love from my people.  I also enjoy my food and earning treats for being a good girl! / While I don’t like being rushed, loud noises and quick movements, I have gotten better while being at my foster home. All I need is patience and a loving family to help me flourish!

• MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I have 2 embedded bb’s that don’t bother me at all – just wanted you to know.  One in my neck and one on my left side.

Come meet me & see if we would be wonderful together! My adoption fee is $299.00, & I’m located in Kenn, Ga.
