Tara

Gender: Female
Breed: Shepherd
Secondary Breed: Beagle
Status: Adoptable
A SHY BUT LOVING LADY:  4 years old / 41 lbs.

Hi, my name is Tara!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am looking forward to finding my furever home!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met a few dogs at the MM facility, and I liked the males as well as the females who were my size or smaller, but not the females that were bigger than me, so if you have a doggie at home like this, let’s meet / No cats as I see them as prey / No kids as I was very hesitant when I met children at the MM shelter (ages 7 & 11), and when they started moving around a lot I barked and growled.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet and slightly nervous girl who takes just a little time to get to know you and then I’m happy to share my love with you.  Never mind my 41 pounds as I crawl nicely into your lap for some petting!  I will thank you with a kiss.  I tend to duck/flinch when hands or stick shaped items go over my head, until I realize that those things aren’t harmful.  When the people I know well and trust do this, I have been fine.  Perhaps in my past I wasn’t always treated with kindness.  My foster reports that I tend to give a little growl at new people, though I am starting to warm up to new people a little faster than when first rescued. I’d love a  stay or work from home family member if possible / Energy level: 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:   I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, and ‘leave it’ commands.  I have good leash manners, just keep a good hold of my leash as I have been known to give chase when I see a squirrel, a cat, or a leaf blowing in the wind – lol / I do ok in the crate but would prefer to be out with people / My potty manners have been very good on the shelter schedule and in my foster home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:   I like toys, but I love people more.  Basically, your attention is what I will thrive on!  I’m a little nervous riding in the car, but that may change when I learn that car rides can lead to fun places. / I don’t like to feel trapped such as in a narrow hallway or under a table with the chairs pushed in.  I also don’t like folks rushing up to me – just take your time.

• MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

I am looking for a wonderful family that will treasure me and take great care of me too.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
