TIMID BUT LEARNING TO TRUST:  5 years old / 40 lbs.
Hi there!  My name is Tia.  I am not sure why, but my former family turned me in to animal control.  When Mostly Mutts rescued me, it was discovered that I was heartworm positive, so – my previous family clearly did not meet my needs as their family pet.  That makes me sad, but I know there is a family out there eager to make a sweet girl like me a cherished family member!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  When I first came to Mostly Mutts, I was very nervous and unsure around other dogs, but I am opening up slowly but surely, as I now make eye contact with the dogs I pass on my walks at the shelter.  However, I still seem a bit nervous around them, so if you have a friendly doggie at home, let’s meet and take things slow / Cats Unknown / I was very scared when I met two children at Mostly Mutts (ages 7 & 11), so I’m looking for a home with older kids (ages 15 and up) who understand to go slow with me, and of course, let’s meet.  (I didn’t show any aggression).
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet, shy and somewhat timid girl.  I am a little sad right now, and I just want to be loved.  I am learning that I am in the right place for that, so my sweet nature is starting to peek through.  With the good care and attention, I am now getting, it is sure to blossom!  Just go slow with me and give me a chance to warm up.  Once I do, I enjoy the petting and will come back for more / My energy level right now is 3-5, but that may increase when I am comfortable in my furever home.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program where I am gaining confidence and have already learned ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘leave it’, ‘go to your place’, and accepting friendly strangers without jumping. I’ll be learning lots more great commands with my trainer!  My leash manners are also good on my walks at the shelter / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts / I am having a few accidents on the shelter schedule, so just continue to be consistent with me so I can master my potty skills..
• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like being petted, once I know you are a kind person and am more interested in attention from my people than in toys / I would not like being in a situation where I am not getting the love and care I  deserve.   I also wouldn’t want to live in a home that is very busy with a lot of folks coming and going.
• MEDICAL:  I am heartworm positive, and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of my heartworm treatment with one of their vets.  I hope to be with my new family before treatment starts.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.
I am looking for a patient family to help me gain my confidence in a loving home.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
