LOOKING FOR A NICE CALM HOME:  10.5 years old / 46 lbs. and needs to gain a few pounds  I don’t attend Saturday adoptions as it’s just too stressful for a sweet older guy like me, but I’d be happy to meet you with an approved application. I was adopted from MM’s when I was a pup, but sadly my owner passed away & I find myself in need of a new home. I love to snuggle up to my people on the couch & give them doggie kisses. I also enjoy walks & have good leash manners, & I love to play fetch. I even have a favorite toy that I carry everywhere – so cute! I’m looking for a calm & quieter type home as a lot of activity & unexpected movements are hard for me. (I grew up in a quiet environment with just one person in the home). Sometimes I flinch when hands come near me, but I just melt when you pet me, so hopefully I won’t do that much longer. I’ve always lived with another dog, so that would be nice in my new home.  I’ve liked the dogs I met at MM’s, & I get along with the dogs in my foster home, so let’s meet. I had a blast playing with 3 other dogs during a pack playtime with the trainers, so cute!  Though I’m older, I can get over any fence, so I shouldn’t be left unattended in the yard. I’m a smart guy who knows the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’, & ‘go to your place’ commands as well as accepting nice strangers without jumping & waiting at doors before going in/out on command. I take treats gently, & I’ve been obedient when my foster family tells me ‘No’. When I lived at the shelter, I didn’t like being in a crate having folks standing over me a lot, so I showed some fearful aggression while in it.  But once I was moved to my little room, I did well with that! I also haven’t needed a crate in my foster home. I love deeply once I know you. I bonded quickly with my foster mom, & I was initially protective of her. I nipped at my foster dad’s ankles (didn’t break the skin) & growled at him when he approached her After working on this with my trainer, I have stopped exhibiting protective behaviors & am nothing but loving & playful with all members of my foster family. I shouldn’t live with kitty cats & a farm setting doesn’t work well for me either as I see chickens as prey, but then, so do most dogs.  I have a fatty mass on my leg that the vet looked at & wasn’t concerned – just said to keep an eye on it. I met some kids at MM’s & when they ran, my prey drive kicked in with me chasing them, & I nipped twice at a teen in my former foster home when he was getting in the car with me. Perhaps I hadn’t fully settled in yet, as I have been great with the teen in my current foster home after some advice with a MM trainer. So, a quieter calm home with calm much older teens may work for me, & let’s take things slow while I’m settling in. I’ve had very good potty manners in my foster home. The vet said that I was in very good shape for a doggie my age, so yay me!  If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle & loving guy, I could be the one! Energy level: 4-6. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, & my adoption fee is $100.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar & leash.
