FUN, ACTIVE AND SMART: 2 years old / 48 lbs.
Hi, my name’s Ammy! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and then I participated in the prison foster/training program where I learned lots of great doggie skills. I’m so grateful to be on the journey to a loving home – perhaps with YOU!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I played well with the other Mutts I met in the prison program, but didn’t care for a couple of dogs I met in a short break foster home, so if you have a doggie already, we should meet together with my trainer to see if we can be friends / Cat’s unknown / I’ve met children around age 10 at the shelter recently and – though their running made me a bit nervous, they could approach me right after running and I liked them, so if you have kits around that age or older, let’s meet!
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a sweet and friendly girl who is quite active and looks forward to being in a home where I have lots of opportunity for exercise. I am playful and smart, and I have shown that I have the potential to be an escape artist – trying to dig a bit and coming very close to opening the play yard gate at the shelter. I make a good bit of noise at the shelter and the volunteers have become accustomed to my “songs”, so an apartment/condo type home is not a good fit for me. I’m very curious and will pick up socks, shoes, clothes or anything I find on the floor, so please keep things picked up so I don’t chew on them while I continue to work on my house manners. / My energy level is 7-9.
* SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘stay’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, ‘go to your place’, and ‘bang bang’ commands. I am treat-motivated, so my training should be fun (and yummy). I enjoy walks, and my leash manners are pretty good but may need a little polishing as I explore with my nose to the ground due to my curious, hound dog nature. Also, I’m big and strong, so young kids should not walk me / I bark in my crate at Mostly Mutts when I know people or other dogs are nearby. Though my crate wasn’t my favorite place in the prison program, I did well in it for a few hours with a stuffed Kong or Nylabone. Covering the crate also helped to ease my stress. /I had great potty manners in the prison program on a consistent schedule, and I would scratch at the door and circle the room to signal that I needed to go out.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love tennis balls and play sessions with my people. When not playing with them, I will lean into them for all the petting and affection that comes my way. / I would not be happy if I did not get the love, exercise, training, and attention all doggies deserve or if I had to be in a crate a lot.
• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.
I am looking for a family to be active with me and provide me with a loving furever home! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
