SHY BUT LEARNING TO TRUST AGAIN:  5 years old / 11 lbs.
Hi, I’m Avery!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control very shut down.  Now, I am in a foster home where my foster is seeing progress as I slowly come out of my shell and show what a sweet girl I am! My new nickname is BrAvery as I have shown how brave I am each day.
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along with the low-energy dog in my foster home and she has helped me learn how to play, so let’s meet if you have a sweet dog at home already / I’m friendly with the laid-back kitty in my foster home, let’s meet / I met the grandkids (ages 4 and 7) in a calm situation and did well with them. I do want a quieter, calm type home, so if you have children that are very  gentle, calm and quiet natured, let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Whatever life change found me at animal control has been tough and left me confused and scared.  As a result, it took some time for my personality to show through in my foster home. Though I’m still shy and timid right now, I want to be friends with people and trust them again, so give me time to settle in and get comfortable with accepting love. / My energy level is 3-5.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I walk well on my leash and enjoy my walks with my foster mom. I will go into my crate if you tell me to “crate up”, and it’s easiest to put my harness and leash on while I’m in the crate so I can’t run away. I’m also learning the “come” command and how to fetch and return. Please use caution when opening doors as I wouldn’t want to get out and get lost or hurt and I’m very fast – my foster mom says I remind her of a little deer. / I’m well-behaved in my crate during the day while my foster mom is at work, and at night I sleep in a comfy dog bed (not in the crate). / My potty habits have been good in my foster home, with an occasional accident when I’m nervous.
• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I really like an environment that is calm and quiet. I have started greeting my foster mom with tail wags when she comes home, but I can still be skittish around her at times (though a bologna treat always helps). / I don’t like being rushed, and a busy household with lots of activity or coming and going would not be good for me.  Possibly due to being shut down, I don’t like being picked up just yet. I will let people gently pet me on my back, but I get nervous about hands around my face.  Hopefully, with patience and love from my new family, I will slowly become more comfortable with these things.
• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m on a mild anti-anxiety medication, which is helping with my fearful nature.
I am looking for a calm environment where a loving and patient family will make me a cherished member of their home.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
