Bixby

Gender: Male
Breed: Labrador
Secondary Breed: Dalmatian
Status: Adoptable
AN ATTENTION LOVING BOY:  7 years old / 34 lbs.

Hi, my name is Bixby! Boy, was it my lucky day when Mostly Mutts came for me at animal control! They are helping me with some damage I’m having from the heart worms I came in with (just ask about that) and going to find me a great home and family to love – I’m very lovable too!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I’ve met some dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, and I get along with the dogs in my foster home, so let’s meet, though I shouldn’t play a lot due to the heart worm damage / Cats unknown / I’ve met quite a few kids and liked them, and I am looking for older calm kids in my new home, lets meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a very loving, inquisitive and gentle guy with a friendly and super sweet personality. My foster mom says I have a curious, excited, and joyful nature much like that of a puppy, despite my 7 years of age. My curiosity keeps my nose to the ground on my walks / My energy level is 5 -7 though I do cough more when I’m more active.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘drop it’ commands and I listen when told to ‘leave it’ when I start sniffing around the trashcans. My leash skills are good, and I do best on a short leash. I’ve learned to sit at the door to get leashed up for a walk, but please still use caution around doors as I’ve been known to bolt in my excitement for an outdoor adventure / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts, but I get very antsy and agitated in the crate in my former foster home and I’ve learned to escape from it, so they found that I do best without the crate when they aren’t home, and they quietly leave through the garage after giving me a peanut butter stuffed Kong to distract me. When they checked on me using the camera, I was usually lounging in my favorite chair, and I didn’t chew on things I shouldn’t. At night I slept in my dog bed in the bedroom. / My potty manners have been good in my foster homes.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like toys, but nothing beats being with my people! I am an affectionate guy who enjoys attention and petting, and I like to be by your side to keep you company. I load nicely in the car and my former foster took me to a dog-friendly restaurant, and I was a very good boy, calmly watching the people and other dogs walk by and not trying to steal anyone’s food / I would not like if I did not receive the love and attention that I thrive on.

• MEDICAL: I came in with heart worms and have completed my treatment for them, but I have a bit more damage than originally thought, so I will have a cough ongoing and may need to start a heart medication soon. MM’s has more details they will gladly share with you if you are interested in me, just ask. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a caring family to love and be loved by! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
