LOOKING FOR A NICE CALM HOME:  10.5 years old / 46 lbs. and needs to gain a few pounds  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  I was adopted from MM’s when I was a pup, but sadly my owner passed away and I find myself in need of a new home.  I love the volunteers that are looking after me and really enjoy spending time with them on walks or just hanging out together.  They like that I’m sweet and they tell me that I’m a good office assistant too.  I’m looking for a calm and quieter type home as a lot of activity and unexpected movements are really hard for me (I grew up in a quiet environment with just one person in the home). Sometimes I flitch when hands come near me, but I just melt when you do pet me, so hopefully I won’t do that much longer.  I’ve always lived with another dog, so that would be nice in my new home.  I’ve liked the dogs I met at MM’s too, so let’s meet.  I haven’t played with them yet, but I think I’ll be a nice companion with another dog.  Though I’m older, I can get over any fence, so I shouldn’t be left unattended in the yard.  I can also be an escape artist in general, so use caution with doors please.  I’ve enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and my trainer is working with me on waiting at doors before going in/out on command as well as lots of other great mutt manners.  So far, I’ve mastered ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’ and ‘come’, and I have no doubt that I’ll learn even more.  I like my little room at the shelter but didn’t like being in a crate having folks standing over me a lot, so I showed some fearful aggression while in it.  But once I was moved to my little room, I’ve been nothing but great!!  I shouldn’t live with kitty cats and a farm setting doesn’t work well for me either as I see chickens as prey, but then, so do most dogs.  I have a fatty mass on my leg that the vet looked at and wasn’t concerned – just said to keep an eye on it.  I met some kids at MM’s and when they ran, my prey drive kicked in with me chasing them, and I nipped twice at a teen in my former foster home when he was getting in the car with me.  (there’s that I’m looking for a calm home thing again) So, a quieter calm home without kids will likely be the best fit for me.  I’ve had very good potty manners on the shelter schedule.  And the vet said that I was in very good shape for a doggie my age, so yay me!  If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle and loving guy, come and meet me!!  Energy level: 4-6.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, and my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
