AN ACTIVE & FUN-LOVING FELLOW: 3 years old / 43lbs
Hi there! My name's Chester! Mostly Mutts came for me at animal control and initially thought I had burns on my back. Thank goodness, that was not the case, but rather a very bad case of allergies! Good vet care and a special food have me feeling a LOT less itchy and healing right up. I participated in the prison foster/training program where I learned lots of great doggie skills!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I liked the dogs I met in the prison foster/training program, and enjoyed playing with them, so let’s meet / No Cats as I did try to get the neighbor’s cat in a temporary foster home / I also haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no very young kids, as I am super active and would not want to accidentally bump them over with my playful enthusiasm.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My fun nature was evident immediately - starting with my 'freedom ride' from animal control. I was really sweet and SO happy that I enjoyed the music while on the ride to Mostly Mutts! I didn’t mind my driver's off-key singing, since I cannot carry a tune either - lol. I am very sweet and very playful, and I am not shy about 'talking' to get your attention from my room at the shelter. My whole body wags to show my love and enthusiasm! I am definitely what one would call a 'people dog' / My energy level is 8-10, so I would be happiest with an active family member who will help me use up my energy on a regular basis.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: In the Mostly Mutts University training program, I am showing how smart I am with the commands I have mastered: 'sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, ‘go to your place’, and ‘bang bang’. I also use proper door etiquette and accept friendly strangers without jumping. I’m currently working with my trainer to polish up my leash skills as I’m a little bit reactive when I’m on the leash right now. / I learned to go into my crate on command in the prison program, and I was well-behaved and quiet in my crate there / My potty habits have been great at Mostly Mutts and in the prison program.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: I really like to play and be active with the volunteers. I love playing with the over-sized balls in the play yards at Mostly Mutts and am enjoying time outside with my trainer, so a fenced yard where I can run off some energy with you would be great fun and likely key to me being a well-adjusted and happy pup. I also love to steal your spot on the bed if you get up, hehe / Other than being away from my people, I can't think of any dislikes, though I would not be happy if I did not get the exercise, training, love and attention on which I thrive!
• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am on a special food - Hill's Z/D for Skin/Food Sensitivities - and am continuing my Apoquel medicine for skin/food allergies. I'm also getting baths with medicated shampoo twice a week which is really helping!
I am looking for a family that is a match for my active and fun nature! Adoption fee $299.00. I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
