Daphne

Gender: Female
Breed: Boston Terrier
Secondary Breed: Mix
Status: Adoptable
A PRECIOUS, OLDER LADY:  14 years old / 22 lbs.

Hi, my name is Daphne!  I really needed some TLC when Mostly Mutts came across me at animal control.  I ended up there as a lost doggie, and it was obvious I had not been well cared for in a long time.  My poor skin was itchy and almost crunchy to the touch – ouch!  Mostly Mutts set to work with medicated baths and regular fish oil tablets, which has me looking and feeling better already.  I am so happy to be getting the medical attention and love that I deserve, so I can be ready for my furever home!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  Though not playful with the dogs in my foster home, I am curious about them in a friendly way – checking them out then going on about my business, so if you have a nice doggie already, let’s meet / I greet and sniff the cat in my foster home, but then leave him alone / I enjoy the company of the gentle grandchildren (ages 4 and 7) who visit my foster home, so kids in my new home may be nice, as long as they are old enough to know how to interact with a senior gal like me who is not super playful, and of course, let’s meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I was pretty scared upon arrival at Mostly Mutts, but my sweet and calm nature is coming out more and more each day in my foster home and I really blossomed at the MM shelter with all the attention I got from the nice volunteers.  Though I am not much of a cuddler yet, I do seek out attention from my people and like being with them.  When I was at the shelter, I cried when I was left alone to long / My energy level is typical of most seniors at 2-3.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My foster is working on commands with me – like ‘come’, ‘stop’ and ‘crate up’.  I am treat-motivated and a pretty smart girl, so I bet I will be a good student!  Check back soon to see my progress / I easily go in my crate with the promise of a treat – lol, and I stay there with no issues while my foster is working – mostly just sleeping / My potty skills are pretty good with very few accidents in my foster home.  My foster has learned my ‘sign’ of walking around the room to let them know I need to go outside.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I LOVE treats!  And…though not super playful, I enjoy going outside with my people for a few minutes, and my playful streak is just starting to show, so I may play more as I settle into my new home.  Mostly, I like to sleep and be near my people / I can’t think of any dislikes, but it seems I have not been treated the best for a good bit of my life, so I would not be happy if I did not get the love and attention I deserve.

• MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations and micro-chipped.  I have a heart murmur and will be on two very good medicines for life for this.  As a result of the heart murmur and my age, I won’t be spayed as going under anesthesia is not an option.  I’m blind in my right eye and have some normal sight and hearing loss which is appropriate for my age.

I am looking for a loving family to open their hearts and home to me with the love I deserve in my golden years!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
