Estee

Gender: Female
Breed: Retriever
Secondary Breed: Mix
Status: Adoptable

A SWEET, SHY GIRL BLOSSOMING: 4 Years old / 30 lbs.

Hi, my name is Estee! I was absolutely scared to death and shut down at animal control as well as being heart worm positive, which made my chances of being adopted low. Enter Mostly Mutts, who rescued me and went to work helping me relax and accept the love that is encouraging me to come out of my shell, and they will treat my heart worms too. It’s working, so keep reading about my progress! I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I have met and played with other dogs in the prison/foster training program, and I like them, so if you have a friendly dog already, let’s meet! Also, following other dogs seems to help me feel comfortable on my walks. / Cats unknown / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet. I may do best with older, calm kids since I may need patience, space, and time to feel comfortable in my new home.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Wow, I have come a long way since being rescued! I’ve really come out of my shell and though I’m still a bit shy, I now walk up to people, investigate my surroundings, play with toys, and continue to show off my improvement and nice personality. / My energy level is 5-7 in the prison/foster program, though I’ll need to stay a bit calmer until I finish my heartworm treatment at the end of January 2023.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already learned the ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands as well as leash walking, accepting friendly strangers without jumping and proper door etiquette. / In the prison/foster training program, I bark just a little when I’m left behind in my crate, but not bad, and at night I get to sleep outside of my crate. I felt safe in my little room at Mostly Mutts. I went back into it easily and will likely want a large crate or safe quiet place in me new home. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule, especially early on when I didn’t even want to leave my room. As I’ve gained confidence, this is improving, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like to play with toys and in fact, I am showing more and more of the things I like – being petted, accepting attention, and learning about the good life a dog can have. Since I’m doing well on my leash now, I would prefer quiet, calm places to walk with you … and perhaps with a doggie friend, too. / I would not like being pushed into new situations, but rather guided with confidence by my people. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Unfortunately, my previous owner did not keep me on a monthly heartworm preventative, so I am heartworm positive. Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of my treatment with their vet, so local adoption only, please.

I am looking for a loving family to give me a wonderful home for life! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
