NEEDS A STRONG LEADER:  5 years old / 41 lbs.

Hello, I’m Huck!  I’m a very handsome boy who needs physical & mental stimulation & a strong/dog savvy leader to thrive & be my best!  I got to participate in the prison foster/training program, & my friends there said I was nothing but a pleasure!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  No dogs. Though I like the dogs I met at MM’s & enjoy playing with them, I have a dominant personality & shouldn’t live with other dogs. / No cats as I have a strong prey drive, even when I see them through a window in my foster home. / No kids due to my dominant tendencies.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m very sweet & enjoy affection, but I am not needy or clingy to get it.  I’m a very smart guy who wants to please his people!   I was adopted & returned twice, once for lack of exercise, the 2nd time for showing dominant aggressive behavior to the adult female in my home. I need strong leadership, or I may test my place in a home. All people in the home must be able to show me strong leadership & understand the needs of my breed. I do better under the guidance of men, but my foster mom took time to make sure I knew she was the boss & I respect her role. I happily follow her around the house & politely lay nearby when she is eating or doing chores. Energy level: 5-7.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program & know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘down’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, & ‘go to your place’ commands.  I also walk nicely on a leash with my harness, use proper door etiquette, & accept nice strangers without jumping. I know my left & right too! I can pass the first half of the AKC Canine Good Citizen test & am currently practicing for the rest. I’ve been pretty quiet in my foster home, occasionally barking when I want to play, eat, or go out. / I am crate trained & like a treat when I go into it. I’ve done well in my foster home uncrated in the living room when my foster family isn’t home for up to 3 hours. / My potty habits have been very good in my foster home.
• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I would love a home where I could run or hike & explore with my owner. I love mental stimulation, so agility work or puzzles are fun for me too. I’m happiest when I’ve had exercise. My foster mom says I do best with two 30-45 minute walks a day, & I appreciate any time I spend outdoors.  I think I remember being trained as a hunting dog, so I have a strong work ethic & am easily trained.  I love to sniff & explore on walks but am easily redirected. / Not getting enough exercise & weak leadership are my dislikes.
• MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped & neutered.
Perhaps you are the wonderful leader I’m looking for who understands my breed & can provide the things I need to thrive!  A generous volunteer has paid $100.00 towards my adoption fee, making it $199.00 now.  I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
