LOOKING FOR LOVE AND A LEADER:  3 years old / 33 lbs.
Hi, my name is Jess!  I was at animal control when Mostly Mutts came to rescue me.  I am now getting used to my new environment at the shelter and learning to love the volunteers who are caring for me.  I look forward to loving my furever family soon!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I want to be your only dog as when I met other dogs at MM’s I got nervous and reacted poorly to them / Cats Unknown / Though I haven’t met kids at Mostly Mutts, I can get nippy and anxious right now with the volunteers when entering and leaving my crate, with leashing and when I am startled, so best no kids in my new home.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  In general, I am a friendly, sweet girl but a bit nervous and defensive in some situations and will likely need your patience when adjusting to my new home. Treats and sweet talking encourage me / My energy level is 4-6 right now but may increase as I get comfortable in my new home.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I have already impressed my trainer by mastering the following commands: ‘sit’. ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘stay’, ‘drop-it’ and ‘leave it’.  Leash walking is new for me, or perhaps I am just scared and unsure, but placing and removing my leash causes me to nip – in fear, not aggression.  My trainer is working with me on this, so check back soon to see my progress / I don’t love going in and out of my crate, but I like treats, so a little coaxing may help that / My potty habits are good on the shelter schedule so maybe I won’t need a crate in my new home.
• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like treats and the tennis ball but can be a bit possessive of my toys and food, so be aware that I may nip if pushed or interfered with while playing or eating – I am working on this!  I love scratches on my hind quarters though I need to see you approaching otherwise it startles me / Being startle or surprised brings out my anxiousness, so don’t approach me from the back, let me see you coming.
• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.
I am looking for a patient family with a firm and fair leader that will give me the direction and time I need to comfortably settle into my furever home!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
