AN ADORABLE LITTLE GIRL: 5 years old / 6 lbs.

Hello there! I’m Katie! I came to Mostly Mutts from a home with way too many dogs for us to be cared for properly. Skin issues, fur loss, and overgrown nails – due to neglect of my needs – began being addressed as soon as I came to Mostly Mutts, so they have improved greatly! Now I’m ready to find a new furever home!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: Though I came from a home with other dogs, I want to be your only dog as I have not liked or gotten along with other dogs that I’ve spent time with, even the ones I came in with! / Best no cats since I do not want to share my person. / I’m a one-or-two-person kind of dog, so I don’t really like kids approaching me when I’m with my person. I only barked at them in my former foster home, but I wouldn’t want to live with them.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My former foster described me as an affectionate girl who loves her person hard! I give tons of kisses and am super cuddly too! I will choose my person and want to be close to them always – often trying to keep other people and animals away from them. I will need you to recognize and help me not to be too possessive of your affection and attention. (See next section). / My energy level is 5 – 7 as I do love playing and running around.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ command and walk nicely on my leash too. Since I am possessive of my person, I’ll need you to teach me that this is not acceptable, and Mostly Mutts will be glad to give you tips and support on how to do that. It is a trainable trait. / I’m learning my crate manners at Mostly Mutts now. I was not crated in my former foster home; they just took me out for a potty break before they left the home to reduce the likelihood of accidents. / I do fairly well on a very good schedule. Please continue to be consistent with me so I can master my potty skills as I was not taught this in my former situation.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I’m all about ‘my’ person and love being with them and keeping others away from them, so I do need help with that. Of course, I enjoy laps but if a lap is not available (or allowed, during my training) comfy blankets or a nice dog bed run a close second as does burrowing down under the covers. At playtime, I like chasing a small ball or having a nice toy to chew on. I also like squeaky and stuffed toys, but I do de-stuff and de-squeak them quickly. / As mentioned above, I don’t like other animals or people near my person and will bark and snarl – I have not bitten anyone while with Mostly Mutts. I don’t love being alone and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, good care and attention.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am continuing medicated baths a little longer to help my hair grow back in nicely and these can be done in my new home. I have a flea allergy, so keep me on flea prevention please. I’ve had a dental cleaning and 5 teeth pulled, so my mouth is nice and clean again. Since I'm a Dachshund mix, I naturally have a longer back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy.

I am looking for a wonderful home where my people will help me learn that it’s alright for folks to approach them when I’m near, and one that will love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
