LEARNING ABOUT LOVE: 3 years old / 47 lbs.

I’m one lucky dog! The founder of Ride to Rescue saw a need for rescuing dogs that are living in rural situations without the medical care and human love that all dogs need! So, she went to work with the community, and I am one of those dogs that is now safe and on the road to a brand-new journey and life! I got to participate in the prison foster/training program where I learned a lot! Now I’m back in my foster home and looking forward to finding my furever family!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I love the other dogs in my foster home (one was rescued with me – Lyerly aka Holly) and I liked the dogs I met in the prison/foster training program. I think having another nice dog or two in my new home to play with and learn from would help me continue to build my confidence, so let’s meet / I also like the kitty cats in my foster home, so let’s meet / I’ve not been around children yet, so if you have calm, quiet natured and gentle kids, perhaps a little older, let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I have begun to trust and seek out attention from my foster family and people who are regularly in my home. I’m still wary of new people and my foster says it will likely take a couple weeks to feel secure in my new home, so a patient and understanding family is willing to give me time to blossom is a must. In the evening when it’s TV time, I like to come get a kiss from my foster and then just hang out with the other dogs for some good relaxation time / My energy level is currently a 3-5, but that may increase as I settle into my new home and gain even more confidence.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: My foster describes me as a smart! I have learned ’sit’ ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘crate’, ‘give your paw’, ‘let’s go’ and I come to my foster when called. I also walk well on my leash and ride well in the car. In a new home it may take me some time for me to feel comfortable with you before I show off all my skills, but give me that time and I will / My crate manners have been good in both the prison program and my foster home. I like my crate and it’s my safe space, so please have a large one for me in my new home. I like to take quiet naps in it sometimes during the day and I sleep well in it an night time / My potty manners have been good in in both the prison program and my foster home on a good schedule. I have also learned to go to the door and whine when I need to go out.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love my Nylabone and anything that squeaks! I’m sometimes a collector and like keeping my things together. One day I picked up all the sticks and twigs from the yard and put them in a neat pile – LOL. My favorite non-toy items to get into in the prison/foster program were paper and pens, so keep those put away and have lots of toys for me / I wouldn’t like a loud or very busy home as I do best in a quiet stable environment. Also, I would not like being rushed to do new things or people who were not patient and understanding of my situation.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have vision loss in one eye likely due to a cataract.

I am looking for a calm, loving and patient family that will continue to guide me into being a trusting and loving family member! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
