A VERY ACTIVE & PLAYFUL FELLOW:  4 years old / 42 lbs. and needs to gain a lot of weight   Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm. Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. I’m an active fellow who is looking for a dog savvy family that will be active and have fun with me. I’m affectionate, come when called, love to be petted and really thrive on affection and attention! I'm also outgoing and have a friendly nature who just loves to be with people, so I'm game to do whatever you want! Since I love walks and car rides, it should be easy to find lots of fun things to do together. I also really like squeaky toys and playing fetch. I’m best suited for a small family without kids that knows dogs. I lost my home because I became too attached to the dad and at times didn’t want the mom joining us on the furniture or in bed. They did not know how to correct that behavior and didn’t feel they could work on it as they also had other family members moving in with them due to a hardship. The trainers at Mostly Mutts can give you tips on that as it’s a very trainable behavior. I do tend to bond deeply with one person, so that person has to be the boss. I shouldn’t be allowed to sleep in the bed with you or be equal with you and on the furniture. This has worked well with me in the past and should be followed. I'd like to be your only pet as I shouldn't live with dogs because I have guarded my people from other dogs in the home. No kitties either please. I'll be a wonderful companion as an only dog, though! I’m a very skinny boy and have been for a long time, but don’t let it fool you I have lots of energy and just don’t concern myself with a lot of food.  I am being offered extra food daily to try and get some weight on me. I went home for a short break with a nice volunteer, and we discovered that I like to eat in the same room as my people (where I can see them). I don’t like my kibble and wet food to touch, but if you put them in two separate bowls I’ll dig in. I also LOVE chicken. My potty manners have been very good, both at the MM facility and in my former home, and my former family didn’t use a crate with me but I’m doing well in my little room at the shelter. Since I love being with people a lot, I can be a little whiny when I’m separated, so I don’t think an apartment/condo type home would be a good fit for me. I would do best in a home where someone is around during the day. I’m very playful and can entertain myself with toys for a while and do enjoy running around in the yard with my people. I also love a good game of fetch and will bring toys back for you to throw again. I take treats gently too, hey perhaps we could work on some training together and you could give me lots of treats since I need to gain weight. Speaking of training, I’ve enrolled in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have mastered ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, and ‘leave it’. Stay tuned for other things I’m learning. My former family said that I was possessive of food and treats, but we haven’t seen any of that behavior at the shelter at all. A home without kids is what I’m looking for since I have shown possessiveness of my favorite person. Come and meet me and let’s see if we’re a great fit together! Energy level: 6-8. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, and my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
