Puddy

Gender: Male
Breed: Chihuahua
Secondary Breed: Italian Greyhound
Status: Adoptable

A SWEET, SHY FELLOW: 1 year old / 11 lbs. and needs to gain a little weight

Hi, my name’s Puddy! I had a home, but my owners began having health issues that did not allow them to care for me any longer, so Mostly Mutts is going to help me find a new family to love.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: No dogs in my new home please. I met dogs at Mostly Mutts and was very reactive toward them, lunging and showing teeth. / Cats unknown. / I met a nice 10 year-old girl at Mostly Mutts and liked her, but kids 15+ may be a better fit for me due to being very food reactive and I don’t like being petted at times, so kids must be able to read this in me.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I was scared and confused as to why my world was changing when I first arrived. With a bit of time, patience and sitting with me, the volunteers helped me become more comfortable. I do well walking with a toy in my mouth, giving me more confidence and a calmer demeanor . . . and it’s pretty cute, too. I was friendly and playful with the photographer and have shown that friendly, active and playful side to quite a few folks here at Mostly Mutts. One even said that I rub you like a kitty cat does – lol. However, I seem to have some sensitivity when being petted at times, so I showed my teeth slightly at a volunteer to let her know to stop. I’m also a bit shy so I wouldn’t want to live in a very busy household. / My energy level is 6-8 as I’m an active little dog who needs some regular exercise.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘stay’ commands as well as proper door etiquette and I bet you can teach me even more! Command training is a fun way for us to spend time together and I need to learn manners where my food bowl and treats are concerned. The folks at Mostly Mutts will be glad to give you guidance on that. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and my former family said that I was crate trained. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and my former family also said that I had good potty manners and would alert by barking.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love to run and have fun; I also like being with nice people. Playing with toys is great fun, and chasing tennis balls is a favorite of mine – I release the ball when given a Pup-Peroni treat. I look forward to lots of great play sessions with you. I also love Pup-Peroni and treats from people once I trust them. / Other than some sensitive petting areas, I don’t like to share access to my food bowl. It works well for the volunteers to place my food and water in the back of my kennel when I am not around. Other than those things, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Being part Italian Greyhound, I naturally have very thin legs so please protect them by not letting me jump off of things.

I’m looking for an owner with time and energy to do active, fun things with me and one that will read my signs and train me well. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
