Ruby

Gender: Female
Breed: Beagle
Secondary Breed: Basenji
Status: Adoptable

AN ACTIVE AND SWEET GIRL:  4 years old / 39 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  Hi, my name is Ruby!  I am a playful and affectionate girl who came to Mostly Mutts initially a bit shy, but once I realized that I was in a safe place, I started to enjoy being in the company of the volunteers for play and snuggle time.  We can tell that I have recently nursed a litter of puppies so I’m working on getting my girlish figure back.  I’m very active and looking for a family that will be active with me so we can have some fun together!  I am not a big fan of going in my crate – perhaps I spent a lot of time in one in my previous home, can’t quite remember.  However, once I am in it, I calm down nicely.  I really like just having a comfy place to enjoy my chew toy.  I will share it with you at play time, if you like.  If you don’t want to play, we can just share some snuggle time, as I love to be petted and loved.  I am food motivated, so training me should be enjoyable for both of us.  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts training program, and so far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘drop it’, and ‘go to place’ commands as well as accepting nice strangers without jumping. Check back for updates on everything else I’m learning - with my motivated personality, I hope to be at the top of the class! My leash manners are a work in progress, as I do pull on my leash, but I am learning more about leash walking every day.  I am doing well on the potty schedule at the shelter, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, as well. I met a few of the other mutts who were about my size or smaller, and I liked them. I did stiffen when I saw a bigger dog at a pet café, but we weren’t introduced so we’re not sure if I don’t like bigger dogs or if I was just a little overwhelmed by all the activity. My trainer will introduce me to some of the larger mutts soon, so more to come on that. If you have a friendly doggie at home, we should meet to see if we can be pals!  I met a sweet 10-year-old at the shelter and liked him, so if you have kids around that age, let’s meet!  Come meet me soon and see if I am the best friend you are looking for!  Energy level: 6-8. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, spayed, and my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
