A SWEET, OLDER GENTLEMAN! - 12 years old / 15 lbs.

Hi, my name is Rusty! I’m a nice guy with sweet soulful eyes who wound up at animal control. Mostly Mutts knew that was no place for me, so they rescued me and are helping me on the road to my furever home! I came in heartworm positive, in need of a dental and hernia repair, as well as needing to be neutered. No worries, as MM’s has addressed (or will be addressing) all of these so I can be my happiest and healthiest self in my new home!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet / Cats unknown / I also haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a very sweet older gentleman with a curious streak – sniffing and checking out everything around me. The volunteers say that I’m a friendly fellow too. I really like being with my people and bark a bit when separated from them at MM’s, (when I can’t see them) I’m not sure if I’ll do this in a home, but maybe best no apartment / Energy level: 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m newly enrolled into the Mostly Mutts University training program and I have good leash manners at the shelter but I do need to be walked with a harness, as I have a collapsing trachea when walked with a regular collar. I take treats nicely, so I’m sure I’ll learn even more with my trainer and new family / I do well in my crate at MM’s / I’ve only had a few accident’s on the shelter schedule, so with just a little review in my new home, I think I’ll do well with this.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy being petted and laps are nice too! I’m very happy when it’s my turn for the volunteers to come and spend time with me, and I am sure to love my furever family as well / I wasn’t crazy about some medicine that I needed to take when I arrived, but the smart volunteers mixed it with baby food and then I ate it. I did try to bite when they tried to make me take my meds (before they found that mixing it was easy).

• MEDICAL: Unfortunately, my previous owner did not keep me heartworm preventative, so I am heartworm positive. Mostly Mutts will cover my heartworm treatment with their vet as soon as I’m ready, so local adoption only, please. I had my hernia repaired and my teeth cleaned, and some pulled, so the teeth I have left are nice now. I have a bit of sight loss, but it is appropriate for a guy my age. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a loving home, where I can spend my golden years as a cherished family member! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
