LEARNING ABOUT LOVE: 1 year old / 37 lbs.

Hello! My name’s Samine! I was very scared when I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control. However, since being in a foster home & seeing how other dogs trust & interact with people, I’ve started to trust too. I really WANT to trust & love, so with the patience of my foster, I am slowly opening up to the great life that is ahead of me!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I absolutely LOVE the dogs in my foster home, & we play hard together – a LOT! My foster mom reports that they are likely the reason I have come to trust her… because I see that the other dogs do. I like to be in charge of our play, so – while I need another playful dog in my new home, best it not be an alpha female & one who will put up with ‘in your face’ type play. I don’t think a smaller dog would be a good fit since I’m a hard player. So, if you have a dog that matches my energy level & temperament, let’s meet / I should not live with cats or other small animals (bunnies, ferrets, etc.), as I am WAY too interested in them / Because I am slow to trust & commotion of children may cause me to bolt in fear, I should not live with children. Gentle, calm teenagers who are familiar with helping a reserved dog build trust MAY be alright in my new home, but – of course – let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Now that I am in a foster home, I am a playful goofball who is bonding with my foster mom & enthusiastically showing her affection with lots of kisses & even hugs. I really want to be her lap dog! I have been much slower to trust men, but my foster dad understands I need time. Any men in my new home will need to understand that, too. I will need a patient & dog-savvy owner who is willing to put in the effort to help build my confidence & show me the good life / My energy level is 6-8 when I am comfortable.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: Building my trust with people is #1 on my list, & I am making good progress! I’ve mastered the ‘sit’ command & am working on ‘lay down’. I do like treats, so once I am comfortable, I bet you can teach me some other great commands / I have a ‘love/hate’ relationship with my crate - my safe place when I am scared, & the bane of my existence when I want to be out of it, so best no apartment or condo living for me, as the neighbors would not appreciate my vocal protests / I am doing pretty well with my potty skills on a good schedule, with just a couple of accidents. Patience & consistency will be key to mastering of my potty skills.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I am still very much a puppy who loves to play & will toss toys for myself at times. So silly! As for toys, the squeakier the better! I love my fenced yard & will need a tall fence to keep me safe. I like to counter surf & to chew slippers, so I’ll need a bit more help with my house manners / I’ve likely had negative experiences with men in my past, so any man in my life will need to be patient with my adjustment to them. It may take some time. Leash walking (though working on it), new or loud situations or being left alone in my crate cause me stress.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped & spayed.

I am looking for a patient, dog-savvy owner to provide me a loving home! My adoption fee is $299.00. I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
