LOOKING FOR A GREAT LEADER:  1 year old / 22 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption center is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  Hi there, I’m Susan!  A young and still very much a puppy who is looking for a very dog-savvy owner to lead me and continue the good training I’ve started in the Mostly Mutts University training program.  We don’t think that I’ve had any training in my past, so I’m working on catching up.  I thrive on attention and need a good bit of exercise daily to be my best, so let’s get out and move! Walks, hikes or some runs, where we can be healthy and happy together sounds great to me!  Sometimes I walk with a toy in my mouth, so I don’t try to pick things up while we walk, though my trainer has taught me ‘drop-it’ and ‘leave-it’ for those circumstances.  I still have a lot of puppy behaviors including biting/nipping at hands and feet and if my play is not controlled, it can turn aggressive.  I have bit/nipped hard enough to draw blood. Sorry about that!  I’m really working on learning great manners!  I’m very food aggressive and somewhat toy aggressive but am making good progress with my trainer using the above commands.  The loud shelter environment increases this behavior and I have done much better in a home environment.  I have lots of potential and my trainer, who is a professional dog trainer, will gladly give you a free session in your home, so we are both set up for success!  I’ve met several dogs at the MM shelter and in a temporary foster home and liked them a lot! I’m very playful and was so patient with a 4-month-old puppy that jumped and climbed all over me in a temporary foster home that I visited, so if you have a nice doggie at home who likes to play, let’s meet!  I’ve met dogs from big to small and liked all of them.  I should initially be fed separately from other dogs in the home and closely supervised initially when playing with toys until you know how I’ll do with these things.  My potty manners are coming along with some accidents on the shelter schedule, so I’ll just need your help to finish this up.  My energy level at the shelter is high like an 8-9, but it was lower like a 5–7 when I went for the spend the night with a volunteer. I’m looking for a home with no kids due to my mouthiness and the food/toy challenges mentioned above. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, spayed, and my adoption fee is $299.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
