A NICE & GENTLE DEAF GUY:  10 years old / 43 lbs.   Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  I’m a sweet deaf older guy who loves head scratches and nice leisurely walks with my foster family.  I mind well on my walks too and loud cars/trucks don’t bother me since I can’t hear them.  I’m very sweet and affectionate and love belly rubs too!  I also like to play with stuffed toys which is adorable.  My foster’s call me a people pleaser, and once I settled in and got familiar with my new surroundings, my lovable personality just blossomed.  Since I’m deaf, it took a few days.  I’m happy to lay on the couch with you and would be thrilled to sleep with you too.  I’m quiet in general and have only barked a little when I was in my crate.  I don't need a crate anymore in my foster home, which is good because it's not my favorite place.  I’m very treat/food motivated, and I take treats best from a flat hand and have learned to take them gently.  I also like to follow you around if you have food, just in case you drop something for me.  LOL  Since I’m an older fellow, I have some slight sight loss which is normal for an older guy, but the vet looked at my eyes and there were no concerns. I have severe arthritis and a possible slipped disk, so I’m taking medication for pain and inflammation and will likely need to continue taking these for the rest of my life.  Due to the pain from my arthritis and sore back, I don’t like being picked up and I will bite to let you know this.  I don’t bite hard, but I need to be muzzled to be bathed and anytime I’m picked up.  I have trouble getting into larger vehicles, so a ramp or doggie steps may help when getting into the car so that I can do it myself.  My potty manners have been good in my foster home once I learned the routine. I’d love a family member who would be home a good bit to love me, I think a long day at home alone would make me sad.  I want to be your only dog as I’ve not reacted well to the other dogs I’ve met.  However, I met a kitty at the shelter and was respectful to her.  Being with my people makes me so happy, and then I can focus on my main goal - making you happy!  Energy level:  3-5.  My foster family thinks I’d be best with older kids that are very gentle and good with dogs as I have a habit of jumping up on folks when I'm excited and due to my soreness and reaction to it. Another thing to note about me is that though I can't hear them, I'm scared during thunderstorms, perhaps because I can feel a pressure change. MMs will be happy to provide suggestions for easing storm anxiety. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, and my adoption fee is $100.00 which also includes an engraved name tag, Martingale collar and leash.
