A SHY GIRL WANTING TO BE LOVED: 4 years old / 49 lbs.

Hi, my name is Teri! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control – a bit scared and confused about my situation – but - the attention and patience of the volunteers is helping me come out of my shell and be truly thankful for the love that is coming my way as I wait for my new family to find me!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I want to be your only dog as I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts and avoided them, but when they came close to play with me, I showed them I did not want that / Cats unknown / I met some kids (10+ years old) at MM’s recently and was timid at first but then I warmed up to them nicely, so if you have gentle kids around that age, let’s meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am initially shy and need some ‘warm up’ time to trust and be comfortable with new people. I am very sweet and a calm girl who welcomes the love and attention that is really helping me come out of my shell… more and more each day / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am now a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer. I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘leave it’ commands and will even offer my paw for a friendly shake. The leash is very new to me, and most times I am hesitant on a leash, but I’m sure my leash skills will improve as I learn to walk comfortably with one / I view my crate as my safe place and do well in it / I’ve had only a couple of potty accidents on the shelter schedule, so just continue to be consistent with me.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: Once I warm up to my people, I enjoy some nice petting. Treats and just quietly spending time with me seem to be the keys to helping me feel comfortable. The volunteers have successfully used treats to lure me out of my kennel for potty breaks. As I settle into my new home, I bet treats will still be on my ‘favorites’ list / New situations and people take some adjustment time for me, so please don’t rush me. Other than that, I can’t think of any dislikes – though I would not be happy if I did not get the love and attention all doggies deserve.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

I am looking for a wonderful family that will be loving and patient – allowing me the adjustment time I may need to show my true, sweet nature. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
