LOOKING FOR A CALM FAMILY: 7 years old / 30 lbs. and needs to gain some weight

Hi, my name is Trudie! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control – skinny with flaky skin and a bit afraid. I am becoming more comfortable every day in my foster home and look forward to finding a calm, patient, and quiet type furever home!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I’ve had mixed reactions to dogs in my foster home. Sometimes we get along fine, but there have been other times when I’ve initiated a fight for no apparent reason, though I seem to be a nervous/insecure dog which my foster thinks may lead to this behavior. Fortunately, the other dog doesn’t engage and will back off, but that may not be the case with all dogs. So, I may be best as an only dog, but you can talk to our trainer. I also met dogs briefly at Mostly Mutts and was interested in them, but just didn’t know what to do / There are kitty cats in my foster home, and I’ve met them a few times and been disinterested, so if you have a dog friendly or dog tolerant kitty, let’s meet / If you have older kids (15+), let’s meet. I’ve met younger kids and liked them, but because I have mixed reactions to other dogs and nipped and adult related to being crated and told to come off of the furniture, Mostly Mutts thinks much older more mature kids would be best, and of course let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a bit of a shy girl who needs time and patience to feel comfortable. I’ve been in 2 foster homes and at times I’m nervous with a sad looking face and tail tucked, but with gentleness and patience shown to me, I come out of my shell and have been very sweet and cuddly. I like following my foster family around the home at times and I enjoy being shown love and gentleness. Once I’m very comfortable, I show off my happy and waggy tail and my enthusiasm too, such as running in the yard while you watch me. You may not want to let me on the furniture, as I once snipped at my foster when it was time to get down / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I seemed new to leash training when I arrived at Mostly Mutts, but it’s greatly improved, though I’d like a quieter place to walk vs. a busy road / My crate manners have been mixed, as sometimes I’ll go right in and sometimes, I protest. I did nip a foster over going into the crate, so I need some continued training in that area. Mostly Mutts will be happy to help you with tips on that / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule and in my foster homes, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too!

• LIKES/DISLIKES: Once I know you are my friend, I relax and become your sweet and loving companion. I am not very interested in toys, but maybe you can show me how much fun they can be. I like soft blankets and naps / I would not want to be rushed into new situations or live in a busy or loud home. I'm not a fan of being held by the collar, being told to go off of the furniture or walking near busy or loud roads. I didn’t care for my baths initially, but once I realized they came with a nice massage, I am getting used to them.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am receiving twice weekly, medicated baths to help my flaky skin heal, and I can continue these in my new home for a little while longer. I’ll be having a dental cleaning scheduled for Feb 11th, 2022, and Mostly Mutts will pay for that with their vet, so local adoption only.

I am looking for a calm and patient family that will give me extra time to settle into my new home, and then love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
