LOOKING FOR A CALM/PATIENT OWNER: 4 years old / 15 lbs.

Hi, my name’s Wesley! Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am so grateful they are helping me find a great furever home! I came in with a cherry eye and thankfully that has been surgically repaired. I’m also heartworm positive, so I’ll be treated for that soon. Now I just need a patient and understanding family to come and adopt me. I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met some other dogs at Mostly Mutts and didn’t play or show aggression, so if you have a dog, let’s meet. I do get agitated when some of the other dogs at the shelter bark a lot. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids at Mostly Mutts, but because I can be reactive to certain touches, so best no kids in my new home.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Once I know you, I am a sweet little guy who will happily share affection with you. Just go slow with me initially and give me time to warm up to you. I’ve made good friends with some of the volunteers and my bather at the shelter because they have done this, so that seems to be the key to making friends with me. When people rush to get to know me, I’ve have bitten them, so let me come to you and let you know when I’m ready for affection. I am playful with toys and am a lap dog once we are friends, but I can be reactive if petted in certain spots (my legs, head or backside). I once bit a volunteer because of this. Playful and affectionate once I know you, I am looking forward to making friends with my new family! / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I’ll be learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer. I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘stay’ and ‘down commands so far. I also demonstrate proper door etiquette and I look forward to learning more. My leashing habits are a work in progress also, so check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though sometimes I bark and growl a bit in it since there are so many different people that approach it. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: My favorite spot is in a comfy lap where I can give you lots of kisses, but it takes me a bit of time to feel comfortable enough to seek it out. I love treats (Pup-Peroni – yum!) but give them to me open-handed so I don’t nip a finger. I like to play with toys, too. Under belly scratches are the best, and please avoid petting me over my head as I am a bit head shy. / I don’t think I’d enjoy living in a home with a lot of folks coming and going or approaching me too quickly. Other than certain trigger points when being petted, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Unfortunately, my previous owner did not keep me on a monthly heartworm preventative, so I am heartworm positive. Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of my treatment with their vet, so local adoption only, please. My cherry eye has been repaired and I’m thankful for that. I must be muzzled when I go to the vet as I do not like it there!!

I am looking for a loving home with a caring family who will see me through my heartworm treatment and love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
