MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

KAREN MITCHELL | Board President
Board Member since 2008

Karen Mitchell started working at Mostly Mutts as a volunteer in 2006 and joined the board in 2008. She became board president in 2023. As the longest-serving board member, she brings an important element of continuity to the organization. Karen is the foster program coordinator, which is a key function for Mostly Mutts. Karen manages over 100 foster families at any given time, making sure the pets they care for are happy and safe while providing the families with necessary support and assistance. Being involved on a day-to-day basis gives Karen an in-depth understanding of the operational needs of Mostly Mutts. She communicates with the board on behalf of staff members and volunteers, and she initiates action based on the needs of the organization.

THOMAS HACKER | Board Secretary
Board Member since 2013

Thomas has over eighteen years of business operations experience and is currently a director for The Home Depot in Atlanta, GA. Thom has held various levels of increasing responsibility within his tenure at The Home Depot. Thom brings incredibly valuable business acumen to the organization and is instrumental in making sure that Mostly Mutts keeps growing at a sustainable pace.

KIM SAVERY | Board Treasurer
Board Member since 2017

With over 25 years working in the accounting field, Kim is currently the global accounting manager accounting manager at Delta Community Credit Union. She is both a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor. She began volunteering with Mostly Mutts approximately ten years ago and consistently helps with Saturday adoptions. We are lucky to have Kim’s financial expertise since she is serving the vital role of Board Treasurer.

TAMMY MAASS
Board Member since 2008

Tammy is the chief financial officer for Community Bankers Association of Georgia. Tammy became involved with Mostly Mutts in 2006 as occasional transport help. She was so impressed with the group that she quickly became more involved and worked adoptions most weekends for years as an adoption counselor. She was also the volunteer coordinator for several years, and this is her second time serving on the Mostly Mutts board. Tammy’s true passion though is fostering, with a big soft spot for small seniors and harder to adopt dogs.

MATTHEW SENDER
Board Member since 2015

Matt Sender is a systems administrator for a local police department. His work keeps him well versed in new technology and security measures needed to safeguard all digital information. Matt serves as a valuable resource to the website team providing expert assistance as needed. With a background in construction, he also brings experience that helps Mostly Mutts make the best use of its physical facility as the organization continues to grow.

SANDY HACKLER
Board Member since 2019

Sandy Hackler initially joined Mostly Mutts in 2016 as a walking shift volunteer after retiring from the Coca-Cola Company and has become involved in several important aspects of shelter operations. With years of training dogs and horses, Sandy became one of the first Mostly Mutts University trainers, while also receiving her ABC certification as a professional dog trainer. Sandy also holds specialty certifications in Fear Free Shelter Management and Shelter Dog Training. She leads our dog behavior assessment team and conducts training classes for foster families and new dog owners who have adopted through our program. Sandy is also an adoption counselor. Sandy’s corporate leadership background, combined with her hands-on experience at Mostly Mutts, will help the board continue to forge the future of our rescue center.
