Hi, my name’s Boomer! I found myself lost or abandoned on the roadside, so a nice lady picked me up and worked with a vet and animal control to try and locate my family as well as do my legal stray hold. My former owners did not come for me, so the nice lady helped me work my way to Mostly Mutts for which I’m thankful! I’m in a nice foster home while I wait for my special person or family to come and adopt me.
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: There is a puppy in my foster home, and I tolerate his ‘puppy shenanigans’ but don’t really interact or engage in play with him. My foster feels I would do better with an older, lazy kind of dog. So, if you have a nice dog that sounds like this, let’s meet! / I do well with the cats in my foster home, as we all leave each other alone, so if you have a cat that wouldn’t want to engage with me, I think we would coexist well. / I haven’t met kids yet and I don’t think I’d want to live with children, but if you have older teens who would let me do my thing, let’s meet.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster describes me as sweet and very energetic but also quite independent with a bit of a loner disposition. I’m not a cuddler but I accept affection when I nuzzle up to my foster to be petted. I’m not shy about letting you know I’m uncomfortable or not happy with a situation and will give ‘warning nips’ – I haven’t broken the skin, but it’s as if to say, ‘hey - give me my space’. There are three people, two dogs and two cats in my foster home, and it can sometimes be a bit too much commotion for me. I’m super grateful for the great care I get here, but my ‘perfect match’ would likely be a one- or two-person quiet home where I can bond with the people who meet my needs. / My energy level is 6-8, so I’ve still got some pep in my step.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t know any specific commands, but perhaps you can teach me some – or perhaps we just don’t concern ourselves with it. / My crate manners are good in my foster home. / I came in originally incontinent, so I’m on a medication to help with that and now I do pretty well in my foster home when taken out frequently. I walk around in circles to signal I need to go out. I’d do best with a work-/stay-at-home family member who can keep me on a good schedule.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like to be with my people and enjoy knowing they are there, and the occasional rub or pat on the head is all I request. Otherwise, I am just looking for a relatively calm home with my person, some activity and then just let me chill with them. I do like a little pasta, but not much, as people’s food isn’t the best for dogs. / Other than the above-mentioned things, a busy or loud environment would likely be hard for me. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough good care as well.
• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived, and I’ve had that now with 1 tooth pulled, so my mouth is fresh again. I’m on a medication called Proin to help with my incontinence and I should stay on that. I’m also on an inexpensive medication for anxiety. Just ask about those please.
I’m looking for a one- or two-person calm home where I can be a cherished family member! My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
